Speed Issue Information Guide

 Although fiber is amazingly fast, it’s not necessarily delivering the speed it promises to at least a few people.

The moment you get a 100 Mbps downstream connection, you want to quickly test the line to see how fast you can download enormous files.

Testing Your Speed

Before following the further guideline, we need to test our internet speed through various speed testing utilities online, such as Speedtest.net

Currently, we are providing 2 types of ONU devices to the users.

  • Standalone ONU 1G - Refundable Security deposit - Rs 1000 (This will require an additional WiFi router).

  • ONU WiFi AC - Refundable Security deposit Rs. 2000

Note: Previously we were providing N-Series single band ONU also.

   SOP Of Wi-Fi Range

All WiFi range-related testing is done in Excitel’s Lab environment. Tagging will be done under “Others” in case the issue reports for any issue with the range.

5GHz:-

  • Total Range:: 10-15Mtrs (If the plan is of 300mbps)

  • 3-Mtrs:: Download speed 250-300 Mbps (approx.)

  • 5-10 Mtrs:: Download Speed 150-250 Mbps (approx.)

  • 10-15 Mtrs:: Download Speed 45-110 Mbps (approx.)

2.4GHz:-

Total Range:: 20-22Mtrs (If the plan is of 300mbps)

NOTE:: Wi-Fi range depends on various physical & logical parameters therefore it can vary in

different environments.

  • 3-Mtrs:: Download speed 72-75 Mbps (approx.)

  • 5-10 Mtrs:: DownloadSpeed60-65 Mbps (approx.)

  • 10-15 Mtrs :: DownloadSpeed40-45 Mbps (approx.)

  • 15-20 Mtrs :: DownloadSpeed25-40 Mbps (approx.)

  • Above 20-Mtrs:: DownloadSpeed5-10 Mbps (approx.)

NOTE:- If in case the Tx power or Rx power or both are unmanageable, CX agents don't need to restart/reboot the ONU.

In that case, agents can directly share the ticket ID with their respective TL so that the ticket can be tagged to the partner by mentioning the Optical power values ( Rx and Tx) on the ticket of that time.

Reason to following the same:-

  1. By restarting the ONU, there would be no change in the Optical Power parameters but if temp levels aren't optimum, in that case, we can try by either Restarting or Resetting the device.

  2. By restarting or resetting the device, the cache and memory of the ONU get released and that can manage down the temperature of the device.

  3. Also, in temperature, agents need to probe about the ONU location where it is installed exactly
